Hindu Milan Mandir
Our third film explores a Hindu temple housed in a former Lutheran church in rural Farmington, a temple that is both similar and quite different from the larger Hindu temple in Maple Grove The founders of Farmington's Hindu Milan Mandir are Indo-Carribean descendants of indentured servants. Their story is one of preserving age-old traditions through architectural, ritual, and narrative improvisation and resourcefulness, making a place for themselves in Minnesota by making a place for the seating of divine images and acts of ritual hospitality in the presence of the gods.
